This is a BAYS -- Boston Area Youth Soccer sanctioned tournament.  As such, BAYS ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY applies to all teams, including teams from outside the BAYS region.  Please click here and read the BAYS policy with respect to referees during a game.  This policy applies to all players, coaches, and spectators.

ELIGIBILITY: The tournament is open to all girls town travel teams ages. Out of state teams are welcome, but should have written permission-to-travel approval from their state organizations.

No dual rostering -- each player may only play for one team.  No "guest" players, meaning players who are not registered to play in your town's soccer league.  However you may add players from other teams within in your town.
Note for 2006: since there are no longer any U12 11 v 11 sections in BAYS as of this season, we will not have a U12 11 v 11 section this year.

GAMES: Each team is guaranteed four games, and may play as many as five. Games are played on Saturday and Sunday.
PATCHES: The tournament is a patch exchange event.  The exchange of club patches or pins between competing teams is traditional and customary.  Teams will exchange club patches after each game. In addition, each player will receive a commemorative tournament patch or pin.

Newton Girls Soccer Club cordially invites you to join us in our 18th annual Columbus Day Tournament.  The games will begin Saturday morning, October 7 and continue through Sunday, October 8, 2006.  All teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games.  The tournament is open to all girls town travel teams ages U10 (6v6 format), U12 (8v8 format) and U14 (11v11 format).  Note -- "odd" age group teams (U9, U11, and U13) are welcome to apply to the next highest "even" age group (U10, U12, and U14).  You will be grouped with other teams in your age group where possible, or else you will be matched against lower division teams from the next highest age group.

Entry deadline is September 22, 2006 (see below).

The NGS Columbus Day Tournament is sanctioned by the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association and USYA.  A copy of the permission to host is available below.  The tournament is open to all town travel teams in division 1 and division 2.  Higher level division 3 teams will be accepted on an case by case basis based on the competitive match-ups.  Club and recreational teams are not accepted.  Teams may enter with a maximum roster of 12 players for U10, 15 players for U12 and 19 players for U14.  No player may play with more than one team during the tournament.  All teams entered must have proper medical and liability insurance.  Teams from out of state must provide an approved permission to travel form from their state association.

No effort will be spared to make this a first rate tournament experience for your team, to include: very competitive pairings from teams throughout New England, quality awards and appearances by members of high level amateur and professional teams. In addition, Thunder Sports of Wellesley, Massachusetts will be on site with a fully stocked sales tent all weekend.

All players on each of the championship and runner-up teams in each of the U12 and U14 age group brackets will receive trophies.  All U10 players participating in the tournament will receive an individual tournament medallion.  One team in each age and division bracket will receive a sportsmanship award. 

This is a patch tournament and teams will exchange patches at the conclusion of each of their games.  In addition each player will receive a commemorative patch along with a tournament program.

Registration fees for the tournament are $250.00 for the U10 age group, $300.00 for the U12 age group and $350.00 for the U14 age group. Schedules will be placed on the web.
