Last year these clinics were well attended and extraordinarily well received. There is no fee for these courses, but we'd like NGS & NYS coaches to sign up below so we know how many coaches to expect.

High School Girls Wanted as CoachesNewton Girls Soccer is always looking for high school girls interested in coaching our Intramural teams in grades 2-6. The league is also looking for a limited number of girls to help as assistant coaches with the younger age groups in our BAYS Travel Program. If you are a 9th, 10th, 11th, or12th grader, you are eligible to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach with NGS. The job is a rewarding one: It will allow you to work with the soccer skills you have learned and now use so effectively as a player, and will give you a chance to instruct our younger players, providing them and you with an outstanding soccer experience. As a coach, you will also serve as a role model for these younger players. During the past four years, many high school girls have worked as coaches or assistant coaches. They really had a great time and a wonderful experience, and recommended highly that NGS continue to offer this program to all interested high school girls. To volunteer, please click here and fill out a coaching application. Applications should be submitted by September 1 for the Fall season.. If you have any questions regarding the program or would like more information regarding this coaching opportunity, please call me (617-558-7578) or send me an email, providing me with any requests for grades preferred and/or the friends with whom you wish to be paired as coaches. We will be able to assign you to teams based upon your preferences and the openings available. George Perides |

Coaching Qualifications (for IM or Travel)In order to maintain a high level of coaching, we have developed the following requirements for being a head coach (HC) or assistant coach (AC) of an NGS team. Coaching a team includes teaching game skills, sportsmanship, team play, and other aspects of the game, as well as providing a high level of organization to the team both on and off the field. All parent coaches are requested to obtain at least a G level coaching license. The G level license is mandatory for the head coach. Additionally, safety is a primary concern, and all coaches must be screened and file a CORI form. Parent coaches are assigned to their daughter’s team. When several parents volunteer to coach the same team, the head coach will be chosen based on proven coaching experience, coaching education level and commitment to youth sports. Note that because we are an all-girls league, preference is always given to female coaches when their qualifications are otherwise identical to those of a male volunteer. Eligibility and Order of Preference for all NGS Coaches:
MYSA Coaches Code of ConductAll coaches are expected to abide by the MYSA Coaches Code of Conduct (click here to view). NGS reserves the right to discipline, suspend or remove any coach for failure to follow the Code. |

Every coach should submit a practice field request form. Before submitting your request, please check with your players' families, if that is part of your process, to insure that the submitted request will work with everyone's schedules. Because field space is always at a premium, please note that we are asking for your top three preferences for field location. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but not everyone can get the first choices. (If you want to maximize the chances of getting a first choice, select a Tuesday or Thursday practice.) Be sure to fill out the form completely and especially indicate any special circumstances our assignors need to know. Don't forget to click on the "submit request" button at the bottom of the form. You will be informed about your assigned fields as soon as possible via email.
