NGS programs for High School girlsClick to go to the registration page. How can you stay involved with NGS during High School?
Fall ProgramThe Fall BAYS HS league is meant for those girls who will not be playing on their High School Varsity, Junior Varsity, or Freshman teams. It is less competitive and closer to "recreational" or IM soccer. Games are 7 v 7 soccer on an 8 v 8 size field.

Contact your High School coach for more details. NGS offers two Spring travel programs for High School players who are finished with their varsity careers (seniors), or have not yet begun their varsity careers (rising sophomores, and incoming freshman who aspire to play High School soccer). The seniors (and perhaps some juniors) will play on a competitive U18 teams, most likely entered in BAYS Division 1. The sophomores and freshman will play on a U16 team, which might be entered into either BAYS U16 Division 1, or a BAYS U18 section, to ensure appropriate competition at the U16 level. U18Newton Girls Soccer plans to organize a top-flight U18 team for spring play in BAYS, as it has in years past. The objective is to provide high-level training and competitive matches while not conflicting with spring sports. I’m happy to recommend this as a quality option for your spring soccer activities, since it will fit nicely with your busy schedules, and provide quality training and competitive match play. Optional indoor training will be provided on Sundays, beginning in January and running through March, with time off for certain holidays and school breaks. This will consist of 1-¼ hour skill-based sessions. Outdoors, the team will train 1-2 times per week – likely one weekday evening, and a late Saturday afternoon/early evening – you decide what works for you. The team will play in BAYS, under-18 first division. It is eligible for the Mass. Tournament of Champions (MTOC). All training sessions (indoor and outdoor) and home matches are in Newton. We will most likely enter this team in the Needham Memorial Day Tournament, College Showcase division – one of the top tournaments in the area. The team will be professionally coached, most likely by a local college coach. Registration for the competitive U18 team will be $200. THis is higher than the usual NGS BAYS registration to cover the cost of the professional coach. There will be a separate fee for the optional indoor training sessions. U16For this past fall’s freshmen team athletes, NGS will create 1-2 competitive travel teams, trained by professional coaches and playing in BAYS. The objective is to provide high-level training and competitive matches while not conflicting with Spring sports participation. NGS recommends this as a high-quality Spring soccer activity, since it will fit nicely with your busy schedules and provide quality training, convenient to Newton and at a reasonable cost. The program will kick off with professionally-led (optional) training indoors, as a group. This will involve 6-7 sessions from mid-January to late-March, on Sunday evenings in Newton, with time off for certain holidays and school breaks. This will consist of 1-¼ hour skill-based sessions. Outdoor training will begin in late-March or early-April, and involve 1 and possibly 2 sessions per week. Again, the goal is to minimize conflicts with your participation in spring HS sports. All training will be in Newton. The team will play its matches in BAYS. The team(s) will have competitive tournament opportunities (Memorial Day weekend), and post-season in the Mass. Tournament of Champions (MTOC). Registration for the competitive U16 team will be higher than the usual NGS BAYS registration - like $200 to $250, to cover the cost of the profressional coach. There will be a separate fee for the optional indoor training sessions. BAYS High SchoolBAYS high school matches are played on Sunday afternoons, beginning between 1:00 pm and 4:30 pm. The season usually begins on the 3rd Sunday in April, and continues for eight weeks, excluding the Memorial Day weekend. Most teams practice once per week, usually on Saturday in order to avoid conflicts with other High School activities.
