After a very successful introduction for the Spring ’04 season, Mass Premier Soccer (MPS) will coach the NGS first grade program again this Fall 2004.
After a great deal of discussion, we have decided not to group first graders into formal/official “teams” this season. The emphasis in the first grade program is on basic skills development and ball-handling, in a fun and enjoyable setting. To best accomplish this, no formal teams are required. Teams will be introduced in the NGS Intramural program in the second grade.
There will be three (3) sessions each Saturday and we ask that all girls attend the session they have registered for. Please email the NGS Registrar with your first two choices and we will work hard to accommodate one of these time slots.

Warm-Up ~10mins
Begin with a
FUN activity. This should prepare the players mentally and
physically for the rest of the practice. Slight changes to a game will make it
different to players at this age.
Skill Games ~30mins
These games
are designed to be high energy, fun activities that reinforce the basic techniques.
Small-sided Games (3v3 and 4v4) ~30mins
Each session
will conclude with a small-sided game.
The size of
the field should be about 30x20 and the teams should be 3v3 with no
goalkeepers.
Cool Down ~5mins
Five minutes
at the end of each session is reserved for an active cool down session and reinforce
basic technical points, have a group huddle and say goodbye.
Location - TBD
MPS will have 3 staff coaches present for each session at all times.
Parent coaches will be trained during the sessions. More detail will be available at the first session. These trainings are designed for first time coaches, especially those interested in coaching an NGS Grade 2 team next year.
